About Bogdan Kapatilsa
I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Alberta in Urban and Regional Planning. My research focuses on the promotion and better integration of sustainable transportation through the advancement of knowledge about people’s travel behaviour, transit operations, and the interplay between transportation and land use systems. I explore those topics using traditional quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as advanced discrete choice modeling and spatial econometrics techniques. I aspire my research to provide empirical evidence for the decision-making that advances the public good.
In my research, I combine the training received in academia with the planning experience I accumulated over the years. Before joining the University of Alberta, I worked as a transportation planner at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) in New York, NY, Minnesota Department of Transportation in St. Paul, MN, and Oregon Metro Regional Government in Portland, OR.
